What We Believe

Sentermenigheten adheres to the Apostles’ Creed and represents classic Christian teaching.

  1. God

God has created the earth and the universe. He is eternal. He is one God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. There is no one beside or above Him. All other beings are created.

  1. Human

Human beings are created in God’s image, as male and female. Humans are God’s highest creation, created to have communion with God and their neighbor. Human beings have inviolable value from conception to natural death. We are created with free will and are accountable to God. God has instituted marriage between man and woman as the natural framework for cohabitation.

  1. The evil in the world

Sin is the cause of the evil in the world. Sin came about through rebellion against God. Sin is personified in the devil. His rebellion propagated to Adam and Eve, who were the first two humans. Since then, humans have been separated from their creator. Humans are lost without God, and their only opportunity for communion with God is through faith in Jesus Christ who died for our sins.

  1. Eternity

Humans are created in God’s image to live forever. We will either be eternally separated from God due to sin or live together with God due to the forgiveness of sins through His Son Jesus. Being separated from God in eternity, the Bible calls damnation. Living together with God in eternity, the Bible calls eternal life.

  1. Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is true God and true human. He lived a sinless life and died for the sins of all mankind. He rose from the dead after three days, for death could not hold him. He is the only one who has triumphed over sin, disease, and death. He is in heaven today, and from there he will come again to retrieve those who have accepted His salvation. He is the one who will judge the living and the dead.

  1. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead. He is omnipresent. He is the one who takes up residence in our hearts when we receive Jesus as our Savior. He brings to life and confirms all that Jesus has said and done. Without the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, it would be impossible to live the Christian life.

The Holy Spirit is the one who has, and distributes the gifts of grace as He wills. We believe God wants all the gifts of grace to be in operation in the congregation.

We believe that God wants to give a personal prayer language, speaking in tongues, to all Christians.

  1. Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to human beings. You can never deserve salvation through good deeds or religious actions. The only way to salvation is to confess your sin and believe in forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Eternal life begins when you receive Jesus as your Savior by faith. The Bible warns us against falling away from faith.

  1. Baptism

Jesus said that everyone who came to faith should also be baptized. Baptism is performed by full immersion, after coming to faith in Jesus. Baptism is a visible confession of our faith.

  1. The Bible

The Bible is God’s infallible word, written by humans inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is God’s speech to human beings. What is written there is true. The Word of the Bible is the highest authority for life and doctrine. God’s Word has the power to change human lives.

  1. Congregation

The congregation is a community of Christians from different backgrounds. Fellowship is a value that is important for all people. In the congregation, you can find support, help, and guidance in many of life’s problems. To become a member of the congregation, you must profess the Christian faith, and have a conscious desire to live as a disciple of Jesus. The congregation belongs to Christ, and He is the Lord of the congregation.

  1. Other Christians

There is no congregation or organization that can claim to own the whole and full truth. All who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and live their life based on it, are our brothers and sisters. We work for brotherhood and friendship among the different denominations. We are all one and belong to Christ and each other.
